From November 29 to December 1, numerous presentations, pitch talks and exciting interdisciplinary discussions at the CS & Physics Meet-up at our location at TU Dortmund University showed that Machine Learning and Physics are a perfect match.

Over three days, scientists from the fields of Computer Science, with a focus on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and Physics, in particular Particle Physics, Astroparticle Physics and Radioastronomy, came together at the Lamarr Institute. The aim of the meeting was to get a mutual overview of each other's research topics and questions as well as each other's learning tasks, methods and data. It was also about identifying commonalities and developing ideas for future collaborations.

The meeting was organized by our interdisciplinary research area Astrophysics, led by Lamarr-PI Prof. Dr. Dr. Wolfgang Rhode and supported by the Scientific Coordinator Dr. Jens Buß, and the NRW Cluster for Data-Intensive Radio Astronomy: Big Bang to Big Data (B3D).

At this point a big thank you to the organizers: Jens Buß, Kevin Schmidt, Jessica Koch and Ekaterina Moerova and to all staff and students for their support at this successful event! And thanks to all the researchers for their visit, their input and their enthusiasm for discussion. We look forward to many exciting and fruitful research collaborations!
