The Lamarr Institute for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at the TU Dortmund University, Faculty of Computer Science is looking for a committed and creative student assistant (m/f/d) who is passionate about video editing, video processing, media design and social media content creation, ideally with a background in media and communication design or similar.

The offer is aimed at students at TU Dortmund University and Fachhochschule Dortmund – University of Applied Sciences and Arts (or a comparable institution) with good experience in video editing and media design. A technical background in computer science, machine learning and artificial intelligence is not necessary. The number of hours can be discussed individually.

Responsibilities:
The main task of the position is to support the AI Colloquium and the social media section of the Lamarr Institute. The AI Colloquium is a lecture series dedicated to cutting-edge research in machine learning and artificial intelligence. The 90-minute regular events consist of a one-hour lecture followed by a discussion with the audience. The event will be streamed and recorded via Zoom. The recordings will be published on the Institute's YouTube channel afterwards.

In this context, we are looking for support with the following tasks:

  • Support with the recording of the lectures of the AI Colloquium
  • Post-processing of the recordings, this includes
    • sighting the recordings,
    • editing and cutting the recordings for archiving and publication on YouTube,
    • and extracting attractive video snippets for further social media content
  • Preparation and editing of content for the Lamarr Institute's social media area, including editing, logos, lower thirds and subtitling
  • In addition, partially: Support in the design and production of further media design content for the Lamarr Institute

Requirements:

  • Matriculation at TU Dortmund University, Fachhochschule Dortmund – University of Applied Sciences and Arts, or a comparable institution, ideally with a background in media and communication design or similar
  • Very good written and spoken German and English (language level C1/C2)
  • Sound knowledge of video editing and video processing (preferably experience with software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar)
  • Ideally further knowledge of media design software (e.g. Inkscape, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop)
  • High level of independence, initiative, reliability and teamwork skills
  • Creativity and an eye for detail
  • Ideally an interest in machine learning and artificial intelligence. However, specialist knowledge is not necessary
